FOR THE LOVE OF DOG

You don't have to spend much time with me before you realize dogs are a huge part of my life.

Ever since I was young I have had a special connection with animals. It all started with my first dog, Fairway. We had a bond unlike any other. In fact, his name was the very first word I ever spoke (sorry Mom & Dad). Although, as a brand new human it was tough to pronounce f's so it ended up sounding more like "wearway". Little did I know, that would be the start of a lifelong relationship with canines.

I've been walking dogs for as long as I can remember.

My Story

As a pre-teen, my parents got me into 4-H in Texas where I was involved in just about every program they had. I developed life-changing skills, and my love and passion for animals grew even stronger. Lucky for me, my mom was head of the small animals group so our house was always filled with animals. We basically had a farm in suburbia. It was truly amazing.

As a young teen, I started pet sitting for neighbors as well as volunteered at vet clinics and animal shelters. At that point, I knew working with animals was something I wanted to do forever.

After working at a dog boarding facility I saw a huge need for in-home pet care, so I left that position and started a pet sitting & dog walking service to provide personalized care in the comfort of the pet's home.

After years of walking dogs and getting my shoulders pulled out, I reached out to a trainer to learn more about how to tame those beasts. The moment I met Rob Peladeau from NexGen K9, my life with dogs changed forever.

I learned the psychology behind why dogs do what they do and how to address problem behaviors. I learned how to connect with the human holding the leash and help guide them through their own training journey. We were there for their wins and their struggles, and it was truly the most rewarding experience I've ever had with dogs and their people.

Watching dogs go from giving their parents the middle finger to looking at them for guidance is something that never gets old.

My goal at For the Love of Dog is to empower you to be the leader your dog needs and help create a deeper relationship based on trust, clarity, and respect. Together we can bring out that well-balanced pup that you won’t be embarrassed to introduce to your family and friends.
